Swansea Love Story

Genuinely uplifting; there’s nothing like moving images of Swansea to make you glad you don’t live in Swansea.
Uplifting? I jest! Its fucking harrowing. Swansea is shit though.

“Didn’t we Cornelius, we recently lost our baby?”
“Sort me out with a glug of that” *points to cider*

The Guardian claim it “Heartwarming, engaging and darkly amusing [and the] must-see British film of the year” and I would agree. There is something oddly inspirational about this set of particularly awful lives (they’d dominate at drinking games), and I find solace that, although completely destroyed, they’ve still managed to stick together. Even if it is just to have someone to hold the heroin spoon.

Although relentlessly bleak, this really is an eye opener to the tragedy of lives so close to home, and kudos to Capper and Leigh for pulling off a simple but powerful piece. The success is largely due to the surreality of the main characters; you’d be half fooled into thinking these people were actors.

Anyway, go looksie, just watch out for the graphic drug use. It’ll getcha!
